About OKAN
Musical Style: Afro-Cuban, Jazz, Folk, World Fusing Afro-Cuban roots with jazz, folk and global rhythms in songs about immigration, resistance and love, OKAN takes their name from the word for heart in their Afro-Cuban religion of Santeria. With vocals in Spanish, Yoruba and Spanglish, OKAN is led by the Cuban-born violinist and vocalist Elizabeth Rodriguez and percussionist and vocalist Magdels Savigne, both Grammy and Latin-Grammy nominees.

"I'm Polvo de Muertos, fan of dance music and psychedelic sounds. l've been searching for Chicano and Latin music for 15 years. It is a hobby that I have been passionate about for many years. I am from the border and I have always appreciated music from both sides, that is why my collection is based on all that music that has surrounded me for years and with which I have grown up." Polvo will spin records in the Pec Lounge at 11pm for a late-night dance party!
